hi all

okay, so i haven't blogged for a while but today i'm putting all out. last week thursday during the practical period we did an experiment on testing the water in three aquariums that were found in the classroom.

theses were the findings my group discovered in all three exhibits
Tank A
NO3: 250
NO2: 1
GH: >16d
KH: 6d
pH: 7.2

discoveries

  • big tank
  • actinic blue light
  • algae
  • cycled system
  • no substrates
  • dry flake food
  • spirulina
  • fish
Tank B
NO3: 250
NO2: 1
GH: >16d
KH: 6d
pH: 6.4

discoveries

  • small tank
  • duck weed (plant)
  • white light
  • algae
  • soil
  • thermometer
  • fish
Tank C
NO3: 50
NO2: 1
GH: >3d
KH: 3
pH: 7.2

discoveries

  • tank size bigger than B's tank
  • plants in soil and some floating
  • fluorescent light
  • thermometer
  • fish
  • brine shrimp food
  • snails
based on my groups findings we had discovered that in this event the best tank would be tank C as it has the lowest Nitrates and the most alkaline. with the Nitrates being low the water gets changed at least once a week every week. the worst tank would then be tank A as the Nitrates and pH is high. with this findings there would be
